inspiration images

I really like the lyrics to the song and there is always one line that i love and think it could work really strong imagery wise.
"The Rain it never stops, and I have no particular place to go"- Japan.
When i hear that line every time the first thing that flashes into my mind is someone crying and a tear rolling down their check. Just that single line of the tear is the slight escape of emotion and normally leads to more. I don't think you need to see the whole face, i think the eye is enough to get across and so i would like to take a close up shot of the eye and put some real shadow into that to show a darker side to the emotion.
I think that this image could again work pretty well in black and white and used in conjunction will soft light and shadows. Give strong contrast and again relate back to the darker side.

I was looking through a selection of images and was trying to get the idea of a room being quiet and i was trying to put across this almost eerie feel about that and the fact that something is not right.
I found this picture of an abandoned building and the idea of damage over the years, this was probably a house that belonged to somebody.
They lived there with their families over the generations and there are many memories, possibly people have passed or moved on and all that is left is this shell and it is stripped of all personal touches and you look at it as a structure rather than a home.

I like the idea of this being in black and white also because it means that colour has been stripped and so again any life has been removed and the place looks cold and harsh. (The image was taken from google images).

sketches

It has taken me a while to figure out how my scanner works, so this is the first of many pages that will be put onto my blog that have come from my ideas book.
So there is a couple of basic lines that i have looked at and just sketched the first thing that has popped into my head and written a couple of notes.
These have both been developed further and new scans will be added as updates.
I am thinking that for the eye shot that it should be an unusual colour just to put a different element in my photograph, as tears are something we see all the time.
The room being quiet i thought of shooting a room that almost looks abandoned and cold, everything is stripped back to the fixtures but there is no personal elements or character to this and then it feels weird.
As i said before these are the basic two and further developments will be posted later.

For this project i have decided to just purely focus on the lyrics and create images from these.
I took the song then broke the lyrics down line by line and wrote things down and sketched things that popped into my head.
I will eventually scan my notebook and place them upon this blog so that people can see my working process and also thought process.

developing ideas

Looking at the lyrics and reflecting upon them, my initial ideas that are coming through are someone who is having memories or flashbacks from their past and this is effecting them as it creeps back in.
I think that the ghost is metaphorical for the past and history and once one thing creeps in, you let everything back in.

Initial Idea 16/10/09

For this project i have decided to use lyrics from a song, i am hoping to use the idea of film to create a narrative with these.

The song i have chosen to use is by a band called Japan and it is called Ghost.
I think that the lyrics to these songs are a really good way of getting a flow of images or stills.

Ghost: wriiten by David Sylvian

When the room is quiet
the daylight almost gone
It seems there's something I should know
Well I ought to leave but the rain it never stops
And i've no particular place to go

Just when I think I'm winning
When I've broken every door
The ghosts of my life blow wilder than before
Just when I thought I could not be stopped
When my chance came to be king
The ghost of my life blew wilder than the wind

Well I'm feeling nervous
Now i find myself alone
The simple life's no longer there
Once i was so sure
Now the doubt inside my mind
Comes and goes but leads nowhere

Just when I think I'm winning (the chorus repeated).

I think the lyrics are fantastic, they have a real sense of emotion and i think could make strong imagery or stills.
My reason behind this choice of group and song is that i can remember these songs being played in my house over the years and so it is a song that i know and strongly remember.
